Downtown Spaces
Orr Park
In 1998 a bench and a shade tree on Musgrove Street in downtown Clinton was dedicated to J. A. Orr Jr., a downtown businessman, owner of Western Auto and City Bicycle Shop.
It was re-landscaped in 2017 by Clinton Canopy, a volunteer group, and was extended to include the triangular patch of earth alongside the building. The plants include many xeriscape, drought tolerant plants and edible herbs attractive to butterflies.
This project was made possible by a Community Assistance Grant from the City of Clinton. Read more about Orr Park here.
Mural On Musgrove
Beginning with the renovation of J. A. Orr Park in 2017, we dreamed of putting a mural behind the small pocket park on Musgrove Street. Local artist Janette Marvin, with the assistance of local artist and teacher Anne Lane, brought new life to our downtown area in a scene that celebrates the theme of parks and trails.
This 20’ x 80’ mural is a must-see for visitors to downtown Clinton. Click here to read more!
ALLEYWAYS
In 2019, Clinton Canopy began a project to landscape the downtown alleyways through the donation of plants from citizens living in and around Clinton. During Rhythm on the Rails, the first half of the alley between Musgrove Street and Broad Street was planted. We plan to continue the project and add to the collection as time and resources allow. Funding for this project was provided by a Community Assistance Grant from the City of Clinton. Come see what we have done together.
Millers Fork
Millers Fork Trail is a natural escape where many would least expect it. The Millers Fork stream meanders through an area bordered by interstate and businesses in an area of expected corporate growth. The parking and picnic area are a convenient stop for anyone in the area, and the early stages of trails border the quiet stream. Find out more about what you might see here: Millers Fork Information Page.
